9 of Our Favorite Moments From the Heroines of Star Wars Panel

It’s Day Two of Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, and after the amazing Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel this morning, including the brand new trailer, the Force is strong with everyone in attendance. This afternoon, we were treated to even more Star Wars awesomeness, in the form of heroines of the galaxy far, far away! The panel, aptly named The Heroines of Star Wars, was full of our favorite characters and some amazing surprise appearance, plus new info about the upcoming original series of animated shorts featuring the female Star Wars Heroines, called Star Wars Forces of Destiny. Here are some of our favorite moments that came out of the panel.

  1. The panel, hosted by Amy Ratcliffe, began with a montage of our favorite Star Wars heroines.

Including Princess Leia, Sabine and Ahsoka from Star Wars Rebels, Jyn Erso from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Maz Kanata from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and more, the crowd cheered endlessly! The montage ending on Princess Leia saying, “Rey, may the Force be with you” during Star Wars: The Force Awakens. perfection.

  2. Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Tiya Sircar (Sabine Wren) of Star Wars Rebels joined the panel!

Also joined by executive producer and director Dave Filoni, we got to see the voices of some of our favorite Star Wars Rebels heroines in person! Ashley and Tiya both talked about how important it was for young girls to see strong characters like Ahsoka and Sabine. Dave added that kids “need heroes now” like Ahsoka and Sabine. We agreed, and so do adults!

  3. Ashley Eckstein said that Disney showed her that dreams come true.

Ashley grew up in Orlando, and her dad worked for Disney, and she credits the Walt Disney Company for helping her find her path to achieving her goals, and knowing that she can do anything. Ashley is us!

  4. Daisy Ridley joined the panel to cheers from the audience!

Daisy announced that she would be voicing Rey for the upcoming animated shorts Star Wars Forces of Destiny. As these shorts will be coming out before Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Forces of Destiny is where we’ll see Rey next!

  5. Daisy shouted out to all the Rey cosplayers.

As you can imagine, a lot of Star Wars fans are cosplaying as Rey at Star Wars Celebration, and Daisy said to them: “All you in your costumes—you rule!” Something else to add to our long list of reasons why we love Daisy Ridley!

  6. Daisy got to see her Forces of Destiny Rey action figure for the first time.

The Adventure Figure will be release in connection with the animated shorts coming out later this year. Daisy’s reaction was amazing—she was so excited!

  7. Felicity Jones will be voicing Jyn Erso in Star Wars Forces of Destiny!

So we can expect to see a Jyn Erso action figure as well. Can we please have all of these amazing action figures???

  8. Ashley Eckstein said that “Star Wars is for everyone” and the crowd erupted in cheers.

This is why we love Star Wars so much!

  9. We got to see the first animated short for Star Wars Forces of Destiny!

The short began with Maz Kanata’s voice saying, “The actions we take, the choices we make, both big and small, make us the Forces of Destiny.” Chills! We then see that the short is featuring Rey and BB-8 and it’s sooooo good. Dave Filoni also teased that we’ll get to see some interesting never before seen crossovers of the Star Wars heroines.

This panel was another amazingly inspiring moment for Star Wars fans everywhere, and we cannot wait to see Star Wars Forces of Destiny, launching in July!
