Disney Vacation Club Neighborhood Beach Bash – Typhoon Lagoon

This summer Disney Vacation Club (DVC) threw a Neighborhood Beach Bash at Typhoon Lagoon. This was the second year that DVC threw the Beach Bash for its members staying on property either the night before, the night of, or the night after the party.  The beach bash opened most of Typhoon Lagoon to registered DVC members.  It included a DJ, Mickey and a few other characters, as well as, some free food and drinks.

Our Vacation dates lined up with Beach Bash!

We were lucky enough that our vacation lined up with one of the dates of the Beach Bash, so we registered for the event (and stayed for first time at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, and LOVED it!)  We arrived at Typhoon Lagoon about 30 minutes before gates were set to open (we were getting conflicting reports what time we could go in). We stood in line for only about 5 minutes before the line started moving.  We got to the entrance, at which time they checked for our name on the list and then let us in.  Once in we were able to walk to the lockers/store area and found out they still had ropes up preventing us from going any further.  The night we went, there were storms in the area, and they announced they had to delay opening a few minutes to get lifeguards back to their posts.  Once the ropes were dropped, we walked down to the beach and grabbed a spot.

Slides and the Wave Pool

The boys really wanted to go on the lazy river, so we made our way there.  We later found out we probably should have gone to the slides to avoid as many lines as possible. After a few laps around the lazy river, we went and rode some of the slides and the lines continued to get longer and longer as more and more members showed up.  By the end of the night, the park was very packed (DVC Members know a good deal when they see one). After we rode some of the slides we decided to head to the wave pool, but on the way there, we spotted people with ice cream. We changed plans and went and got some ice cream, chips, cookies, as well as some lemonade. We were working our way through way too many ice cream bars when all of a sudden the wave pool alarm sounded.  Our boys handed us their ice cream and ran to the wave pool.  I had heard that the waves at Typhoon Lagoon were pretty big, and since our 5 year old isn’t the best swimmer I followed them.  Wow, I was shocked at the size of the waves! They were HUGE!  The boys LOVED the waves and had so much fun. After about 20 minutes of playing in the wave pool we decided it was time to leave. The boys talked us into one more slide and we agreed.  We found that most lines at that time were at least 30 minutes long, but a deal was a deal.  We rode one last slide.  About 90 minutes after we said we were going to leave, we headed “home” and get the kids in bed (barely before midnight).

Watch the Video

We had a lot of fun at the Beach Bash, and if your vacation lines up with with a DVC party, we highly recommend you try and work it into your schedule. We brought our GoPro to the party and put together this fun video of our night.  We hope you enjoy the video!
