Disney Cruise Line Planning Two New Ships

Disney Cruise Line adds 2 new shipsOnce you’ve been on a Disney Cruise, it’s hard to want to do anything else: The ships are magnificent, the entertainment astounding, and the food … oh, the food. Delicious doesn’t quite describe the food. Just thinking about it—from the wonderful buffet-style lunches, to the high-class specialty restaurants like Palo—leaves us speechless (and very, very hungry). And if you’ve never been on a Disney Cruise ship before soon you’ll have two more chances, as Disney Cruise Line has announced two new ships, set to be completed in 2021 and 2023.

While ship names, design plans, and itineraries are still in development, we know that each new ship will be approximately 135,000 gross tons, which makes them slightly larger than the two newest Disney Cruise Line ships—the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy. Each of these new ships is expected to include around 1,250 guest staterooms.

Considering the next-level innovations that Disney Cruise Line has introduced in the last few years, from the first water coaster at sea (the AquaDuck—basically the Sistine Chapel of water slides) to the Magical Portholes in interior staterooms (which provide real-time views of the sea, as well as appearances from animated Disney characters), we can only imagine what the Disney Cruise Line is cooking up for these brand new ships.

“The expansion of Disney Cruise Line only adds to our excitement for the unprecedented growth taking place across our vacation destinations, from new Star Wars experiences coming to the Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts, to the 25th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, and the grand opening of our newest park, Shanghai Disney Resort,” Bob Chapek, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said in a statement.

As if we needed another reason to plan our next Disney Cruise, we now have two.
