Radio Disney “must be in the United States” Problem

Radio Disney Codewords

We play Radio Disney at night in the kids rooms to help put them to sleep (something we started when our second child was born in hopes to keep him from hearing our newborn cry). We have been doing this for four years straight.

Starting this week, May 28 2015 we started getting the error message "We're sorry, you must be in the United States to listen" when trying to listen to Radio Disney on our home network. We thought it was just something wrong for that night and would check it again. The next night, same issue. Now three days later, Sunday May 31 2015 we still can't listen to Radio Disney.  I called Radio Disney to see if they knew what was going on, and they simply took my name and phone number (after I had to basically force it on them).  Next I called my local internet provider, Time Warner Cable.  I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Time Warner Cable trying to fix the issue.  In a past life I worked at a call center and trained computers, so I am pretty technical.  All attempts have failed to this point.

I have narrowed the issue to definitely Time Warner Cable.  When I switch my iPhone to 4G, all works fine. When I go to wifi, I get the error message "We're sorry, you must be in the United States to Listen" when loading the Radio Disney app.  I have also attempted to try to listen from the Radio Disney website from two different computers and one iPhone, no luck.  I had a friend of mine that lives about a quarter of a mile away from me try to see if he could access it on his Time Warner Cable connection, it too also fails. As soon as he switched off wifi and used his 4G connection, all worked fine.

I will continue to update this page as I work towards getting an answer.  If you are having the same issues, please put your location and internet provider in the comment below so we can show Radio Disney and our internet providers we are having issues.

Tweet Radio Disney and Time Warner Cable!
