Yup, there is a dragon at Walt Disney World. A real-life dragon!  This one doesn’t fly or breathe fire but your kids can say they saw a real dragon at Walt Disney World. At Rafiki’s Planet Watch inside of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, guests can get nose-to-nose with an over three-foot-long dragon.  Tiamat, or Tia for short, is a Komodo Dragon that has been living at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for over a year now. Come see her and catch the new It All Started with a Mouse show at 2:30 daily right next to Tia’s enclosure.

If you haven’t ventured back to Rafiki’s Planet Watch and you have small children, we strongly encourage you to go. You can get up close and personal with goats, sheep, pigs, a cow and many more in the petting area known as Affection Section.  Inside Conservation Station there are tons of activities for the children to experience, from watching movies to listening to songs of the rainforest, and if you are lucky, you may be able to watch the veterinarians working on one of the animals from the park through the large glass windows into the treatment room.  Also while at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, you may catch Chip and Dale or Rafiki himself for a photo opportunity (and the line is usually pretty short).

So catch the Wildlife Express Train, the only way back to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and get up close and personal with several of the animals, catch one of the many shows, or spend time talking to one of the Animal Keepers asking them questions about their animals. It’s definitely worth the time!
